just feel like saying:

Toni Collette isn't fat in In Her Shoes.

Minnie Driver isn't fat in Circle of Friends.

Jennifer Saunders isn't fat in Absolutely Fabulous.

Renee Zellweger isn't fat in either of the Bridget Joneses.

Martine McCutcheon isn't fat in Love Actually.

Mary Boyland isn't fat in The Women.

Ginnifer Goodwin isn't fat in Mona Lisa Smile.

Kim Cattrall isn't fat when her character returns from California in Sex and the City.

Fat Betty is...well, I don't know what she is, but she isn't fat (Mad Men).

Thanks!

  1. I watched In Her Shoes the other day actually and I was also wtf-ing at the notion that she was anything other than thin. Thanks for this.

  2. You know who else isn't fat? Martine McCutcheon in Love, Actually. What's with all the fat hate in that movie?

  3. Anne Hathaway isn't fat in The Devil Wears Prada, even compared to all the "skinny" fashion mag girls...

  4. Movie/TV "fat" is ridiculous. And when they do actually have an actress that is on the fat side, they act like she's the most humongous thing in the world. It's ridiculous.

  5. This is so depressingly commonplace, there's even a trope for it on TV Tropes: Hollywood Pudgy

  6. It's so much later, but I'm a new reader (hi!) and can't resist adding my favorite: Ginnifer Goodwin isn't fat in Mona Lisa Smile. It took me and my sister and my best friend literally the entire movie to figure out why they were treating her like a social pariah with no dating prospects, and it was I who finally twigged: "Oh! She's supposed to be fat!" and the unconvincingness of her fatness was such that I was not immediately believed.
